The nation’s largest police union sent out a recent letter of support for Obama Attorney General Eric Holder to Senator Patrick Leahy(D) days prior to Senate Judiciary Hearings on the Fast and Furious scandal scheduled for November 8th.

Attorney General Holder is under increasing pressure to resign his position due to what appears to be a consistent refusal to fully cooperate with the still ongoing Fast and Furious investigation. Fast and Furious was the government-approved gun smuggling operation that resulted in thousands of weapons being placed into the hands of known and highly dangerous Mexican drug cartel members. Some of these weapons were then used to commit a myriad of crimes that resulted in the deaths of 2 federal agents, and some 200 Mexican citizens.
Apparently, Eric Holder’s part in the deadly and failed law enforcement operation has little impact on National Fraternal Order of Police union boss Chuck Canterbury, who stated the following regarding Attorney General Holder:
The FOP is very proud of the strong and positive working relationship that we have had with Eric Holder, not just for the two years in which he has served as the nation’s ‘top cop,’ but through his long career of public service,” wrote Chuck Canterbury, the organization’s National President. “As the brother of a retired law enforcement officer and one of the most dedicated and experienced law enforcement leaders, General Holder has been a true partner to the FOP and to our nation’s rank-and-file officers.
It should be noted that Canterbury, in his role as a union president, has been for the most part been a consistent supporter of the Obama administration. A significant portion of the Obama stimulus package of 2009 was spent on maintaining the salaries and pensions of both active and retired law enforcement members throughout the country. Though the association endorsed Senator John McCain back in 2008, Obama administration outreach efforts to Canterbury, namely in the form of significant federal spending to state and local law enforcement agencies, as well as increased White House access, appears to have met with success.
It should also be noted that despite his role as FOP president, and the contents of his pro-Eric Holder letter to Senator Leahy, Mr. Canterbury does not speak for all rank and file law enforcement agents.

Words fail me.
He’s part of the problem and so is Leahy. I’m glad to know that Grassley will be at the hearing.
One more union that has shown it’s colors: yellow.
Considering Canterbury is a union lackey, and also a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council, this doesn’t surprise me a bit.
I know a few cops and I also know there is no way the rank and file would ever support Holder, in this crap. Never in a million years.
I was a little surprised though, at how weak this support letter actually was.
I’ll wouldn’t be surprised to find that “Dear Leader” was holding this guys feet to the fire.
HAH!
This proves that Holder is going down.
An Attorney General looking for support from his little underlings.
I’m actually embarrassed for him.
sucky, sucky.
I guess that makes it official. We have a police state. They serve the dictator. Not the people.
I looked for this letter at the FOP archives and was unable to find it.

can you link the original please for reference. I know of many members of the FOP that would be interested in seeing it and voicing some strong opposition to it.
As a retired police officer and a member of the FOP, I find this insulting. Holder has Border Agents arrested for doing their jobs. Border Agents were killed due to their attempt to abolish the 2nd Amendment via Gun Walker and this idiot endorses Holder! To my Brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement, time for our collective voices to be heard, Canterbury does not speak for us. Holder must go!!
