BREAKING: Senate Investigation Into Obama Fast and Furious Scandal Announced

With the House having been investigating the subject for several months, the just-announced Senate investigation into Fast and Furious marks a significant expansion of the scandal.  Historically, when the entire Congress joins in an investigation, the political dangers against a sitting president are far greater.  GAME ON…

Senator Joe Lieberman, who chairs the powerful Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, has directed his staff to begin an all out investigation of the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal.  A spokesperson from the Lieberman office indicated the following:

The lack of interagency coordination along the border merits further examination, and as Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, he has directed his staff to follow up with the relevant federal agencies on that topic.

The investigative language used by Senator Lieberman is far less aggressive than that of Congressman Darrell Issa, who has led the charge into seeking answers regarding the failed and deadly Obama gunrunning operation, but such is the way for the Senate, which is the far more deliberate legislative body, often acting as a counter-balance to the more partisan and fast-moving House of Representatives.  To have a United States Senator, and Chair of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee publicly announcing an investigation into Fast and Furious at the same time nearly 100 members of Congress have declared “No Confidence” in Obama Attorney General Eric Holder is a considerable development that appears to further prove the Fast and Furious issue will be a subject that will rightfully plague Barack Obama’s hopes to be re-elected in 2012.

Senator Lieberman’s involvement might also prove even more dangerous to the Obama administration as Lieberman has already announced this will be his last term as Senator – he has signaled no political obligations in that regard, which then makes him that much more difficult to politically intimidate.

For those seeking justice served against the Obama administration for its complicity in the deadly and illegal Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal - that search has now gained a powerful ally in the form of Senator Joe Lieberman.

      • I think so. Liberman knows very well what’s at stake for our country, for our constitution, for our way of life, for our children and future generations. Who we have as next President is crucial to the survival of America. The population demographics for the next 20+ years reveals all. Guess who’s populations are expanding and who’s are contracting. That’s what will determine how life will be.

    • On one hand, you have the fact that Lieberman is a short-timer; on the other, he’s loyal to the D party through and through. Lieberman has raised hopes before only to cave for his comrades.

    • Just like WH I, Senator Lieberman is very likely loyal to the Democratic party. To the President and his administration, I’m thinking not so much.

    • Hmmm, not sure if the senator will be helpful or serious. He IS, after all, very good buds with McCain FROM Arizona, point of origin for the gun running. Has anyone heard McCain say anything on Fast and Furious? If I have missed it, please tell me. I am not very hopeful about the “independent” senator’s faint musings. Let’s hope I am wrong!

    • Holder had authorized the FBI to provide the explosives to McVeigh and Nichols in conjunction with a Clinton administration undercover operation named PATCON, an acronym for “Patriot Conspiracy.” As Jesse Trentadue describes it, “PATCON was designed to infiltrate and incite…militia[s] and evangelical Christians to violence so that the Department of Justice could crush them.”

Fast and Furious is the outcome

        • Allegedly, Holder’s program arranged to sell the DYNAMITE to set off the fertilizer.

If this is true, I see someone in the DOJ who is in much deeper trouble than impeachment.

          • This has another element to it, as NamePhilo mentioned, if Holder provided dynamite to McVeigh et al: Chandra Levy.

She worked in the Bureau of Prisons, and had access to McVeigh’s materials. She had told her parents – in an email – that she had something really important to tell them. And then she immeditely went missing. The man who was eventually convicted of her murder is a patsy – just as Congressman Condit was a bystander.

It is possible – plausible – that Levy found this out, and was taken for a ride by a DOJ hireling when they became aware of her intent to make this public.

            The plot thickens.

    • I fervently hope that Joe develops the independent guts to corner this anti-Israeli administration where they are truly susceptible… Where they have blood on their hands. Holder is hardly the tip of this iceberg, so to speak. I pray he sees it in his heart to do the right thing here and “go in” on this hand.

I would be happy to give him the credit for turning this tyranny into a change we all can believe in… Perhaps he can vindicate himself for being such a strong supporter of McLame.

      Heh.

    • This will give Senators and Representatives a chance to speak openly, even before the hearings. How does an avlalanche sometimes begin? With a single snowball?
