For nearly a year California Congressman Darrell Issa has battled against Obama Attorney General Eric Holder over the failed and deadly gunrunning operation known as Fast and Furious. Within the last 24 hours Issa has both seemingly capitulated to Holder while again attacking him on the issue, leaving a growing number of Americans confused as to what the eventual outcome might be.
When over 70,000 documents have been refused to be turned over by a government agency, the appearance of a cover up is undeniable. Add to that a member of that agency’s pleading the 5th and refusing to cooperate with an ongoing Congressional investigation – and the appearance of cover up would seem confirmed. And yet, despite these and other confirmations, Congress remains hesitant to fully engage the Obama administration over the issue of Fast and Furious, allowing Eric Holder to time and time again stonewall the investigation in what has become an increasingly obvious move to “run out the clock” – something he has first hand experience doing during the Clinton years.
Darrell Issa, Chair of the powerful House Oversight Committee, threatened Attorney General Holder with contempt charges if requested documents were not released to his committee by Thursday of this week. Holder ignored the threat, and Congressman Issa appears to have backed down – giving Holder a now open timeline to comply.
At almost the same time – though largely unreported by the media, was the release of an internal memo from within that same House Oversight Committee that gives clear and powerful indication of the Obama administration’s incompetent complicity in the failed gunrunning operation that was deemed a “failure” – and involved several agencies within the Obama administration.
Mexican cartel suspects targeted in the troubled gun-trafficking probe known as Operation Fast and Furious were actually working as FBI informants at the time, according to a congressional memo that describes the case’s mission as a “failure.
These were the ‘big fish,’” says the memo, written on behalf of Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa. “DEA and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had jointly opened a separate investigation targeting these two cartel associates….Yet, ATF spent the next year engaging in the reckless tactics of Fast and Furious in attempting to identify them.
…Representatives with the Justice Department and its subagencies declined to comment.
So on one hand Darrell Issa gives Eric Holder a seeming reprieve by extending the due date of those requested Fast and Furious investigation documents while on the other hand simultaneously releases an internal committee memo that once again indicates the Obama administration’s complicity in the failed and deadly operation.
Is Issa doing a song and dance – or a hook and jab?

Let’s hope that Issa is doing the same type of thing as Muhammad Ali used to do: “Float like a butterly and sting like a bee”. Make “certain people” THINK he’s capitulating all over the place, but be doing something altogether different behind the scenes. Sort of like making sure Holder’s attention is fixated on the right hand, then sucker-punching him with the left hand.
Ulsterman said it best, of course, in his article. But I couldn’t help throwing in the Muhammad Ali reference — that’s exactly the image that the article brought to mind.
I read an article yesterday or the day before~ The theme was Boehner needs to grow a spine because he doesn’t want Issa to go after Holder. The article basically was calling for Boehner to be voted out of his position since he has been so lousy as a speaker.
My point is that perhaps Issa is “zig zagging” because he knows Boehner could pull him off of Fast and Furious. Could this be why Issa is travelling down this path so slowly?
Excellent point Kay112. This is exactly what Boehner is doing. This one scandal would ordinarily be a slam dunk to bring down any Attorney General and likely any presidency. When the GOP primaries are over, if the candidate does not use this forcefully against Obama and company, then we can rest assured of the Republicans throwing the election just like they did in 2008.
Look at judge Malihi’s verdict in Georgia . . . that EVERY INDIVIDUAL born in the United States, REGARDLESS OF his parentage, is a natural born American citizen. That means even anchor babies are constitutionally eligible to become U.S. President when they grow up.
Look at Georgia’s Secretary of State rubberstamping Malihi’s utterly ludicrous ruling.
Then ask: WHO has survived the regime’s reach with his/her job/life intact?
Would it surprise you if the threats extended to Issa?
That verdict in Georgia was one of the craziest rulings I have ever read! The only rational point I could come up with was the same as yours~~ Malihi
had to fear for his life. Hence, this would explain his looney verdict.
And you’re right~ anchor babies and babies born in the USA of parent(s) who is/are not Americans can NOT become US presidents due to their automatic legal right to citizenship of the country their parentage is located.
Let’s hope it is Issa that’s doing the rope-a-dope on Holder, rather than Holder wearing down the investigators…
With the Dems and their inclination for using raw FBI files for purposes of blackmail…. It is important citizens are calling both Issa’s office and Boehner’s office to express support, serious dismay and further …you expect them to fulfill their constitutional duty and sworn responsibilities as the people’s representatives.
The press of late, in full coordination with the Obama administration, are hoping to both inflate Obama’s chances of winning re-election and strike fear in the investigators — as well as any would be whistleblwowers– by claiming 20% of Republicans will vote for Obama, that the economy is recovering, jobless claims are great, hiring is way up, Obamacare is now a well supported necessity, and that Republicans will take away your contraception…. further propagandising …yet in fact — all complete blather and utter rubbish….
The public knows –the economy stinks, that jobless numbers are well above 8.3% and if that other 8% out of work that have given up the job quest are counted –we are looking at an over 16% jobless number, that the Bureaun of Labor Statistics has been corrupted through changed methodology– saved, created, imagined??, that $16 Trillion in debt really does matter and lost AAA ratings in fact do mean something very disasterous, that the Arab Spring was the Muslim Brotherhood ‘s rising and complete capture of the Middle East, that Obama has no right to direct the citizen’s beliefs or faith – nor their church’s, that Americans do not favor the state having say-so over citizens reproduction, and that our long beloved constitution is far preferable to the capture and slavery of the USA into globalism.
Americans want the state out of their lives, out of their pockets and out of their panties.
So if you have the time to read on the internet you also have the time to make a couple phone calls….
Call your representatives …Call Bohner and Call Issa….before its too late and you no longer have that right…. You must understand — we are standing and staring down into the abyss.

Assuming the remote possibility that Issa’s intent is to use the investigation against Obama’s reelection, he’s playing a fool’s game. Every day that goes by without Holder being charged with contempt weakens Issa’s case for doing so. It should have happened months ago. It’s now less than 9 months until the election; and, Obama is in full campaign mode. Just how long does Issa think he needs to wait for any of this to have any affect on Obama getting elected?
Furthermore, the intent of this investigation is totally separate from defeating Obama at the polls. It’s about getting to the bottom of who all is responsible for the criminal activity that went on during Fast and Furious; including the death of at least one American citizen and Border Patrol Agent. If that purpose is carried out to the fullest, the other will follow.
But, let’s assume for the moment that any part of the investigation’s priority can be, should be, and is, to simply to remove Obama from office. We ALL know that at the very least, Holder is responsible and that Obama is culpable in that Holder was appointed by him. If the proof of that, which Issa has reputedly had for nearly a year, were to be made public and proper charges brought, that and the resulting backlash would do as much to hinder Obama’s reelection if announced now as it would a month or two before the election.
The only logical conclusion from the totality of Issa’s actions (inaction?) is that he has made a deal with the Obama regime.
White House Insider stated long time ago this would slowly come out concerning Holder and possibly the Administration. He said something
to the affect it would come to a head when Obama is in campaign mode.

I seriously doubt. I believe though Boehner may want Issa off this case and that may be why it gives the illusion Issa may be in bed with Holder. (Seriously, it would be utter stupidity of Issa to have struck a deal with Obama/Holder when two murders of Americans occurred with FnF guns.)
Boehner has been a very weak, incompetent speaker who may want Issa off this case though. He is lacking in leadership skills and thus very incompetent.
The only thing Boehner was good for was to gather enough representatives votes to clinch the speakership position…..
I firmly believe that Issa has indeed made a deal with the Devil. The Republicans are doing absolutely nothing but a dog and pony show. The inaction they exhibit is astonishing to me. The political arena is a giant chess game where moves made are only done well in advance of pre-planned more moves. We are all just pawns. Is Issa is the only person in a direct conflict with this horrid administration? Where is the rest of Congress on the multiple unconstitutional laws and bills being passed? They are all in bed with the Devil!
Like a parent issuing an empty threat to a child, Issa’s “deadline” — which should have been issued months ago — was meaningless without punitive repercussions. That he hadn’t previously made it clear that ALL the documents were be delivered by a certain date long ago, and — IF NOT — impeachment proceedings, or deep cuts to the DOJ, or something, ANYTHING substantive, would then be the consequence … cynically made me suspicious from the get-go that nothing would come of this.
It could indeed be that the idiot Boehner made it clear that nothing of any real consequence would result. Un-f’ing-believable … we are a nation not of laws, but of men. Pathetic.

If Issa is in the Karl Rove camp than he is doing everything possible to ensure the Republicans lose in 2012 to set up a Jeb Bush run in 2016. Rove is working hand in glove with the Obama gang.
