Obama Campaign Seeks Out Dirt On Santorum

In the first clear sign of concern regarding the possibility of facing GOP candidate Rick Santorum in the General Election, the Obama campaign team is asking supporters to send them examples of Santorum’s “extreme-right social views.”

Perhaps those same Obama supporters will utilize the Obama administration’s new Orwellian “Truth Team” website that calls on those speaking out against Barack Obama to be reported.  (LINK)

As for the Santorum campaign, it has gained considerable momentum following decisive primary victories in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri recently.  And for the first time in months, Republican rival Mitt Romney finds himself trailing another candidate in the national polls.  This scenario appears to have the Obama re-election team considering contingency plans should Santorum’s surge continue and he unseats Romney as the new GOP frontrunner.

Here is the message the Obama team sent out calling for information that might damage the Santorum campaign:

Here’s someone who has actually bragged that he was a tea partier before there was a Tea Party — someone whose extreme-right social views are as out of touch as they are memorable.

Folks across the country are just starting to learn about Rick Santorum as he enjoys his newfound wave of popularity. But people here have known him for some time — long before he was out on the national stage like he is now. And it’s on us to make sure the rest of the country sees Rick Santorum’s true colors.

Share your recollections of Rick Santorum’s record in Pennsylvania.

We all have a role to play in helping introduce the real Rick Santorum to voters in the 49 other states. Your story will help hold him responsible for his actions — and could inspire other Pennsylvanians to get involved and raise their voices, too.

And when it comes to his greatest hits in this state, you’ll have no shortage of material to choose from.

Share what you want the rest of the country to know about Rick Santorum — and then ask your fellow Pennsylvanians to join you.

Of course, those who have been paying attention to the Obama campaign since 2007 know well the true example coming from Barack Obama has never been hope and change but rather down and dirty…

    • LOL. The Tea Party isn’t associated with extreme right-wing social views. What morons.

It’s their “extreme” right-wing fiscal views that unite fiscal conservatives, libertarians, and even some liberals into the myriad tea parties. I suppose they’re ignorant of what the acronym in TEA stands for: Taxed Enough Already, as well as the primary message that is very simple: cut the size and spending and scope of government, which will lead to a potential rebirth of America, American exceptionalism, and potentially individual liberty.

      Nothing more … for now.

    • You’re an idiot. Publishing information on the identity of the WSI is killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

What’s more important: assistance in the survival of our country as we know it (for you and future generations, assuming you’re American — and even if you’re not, because if America goes down we take the whole world with us) or your self-serving “news reporting”?

Don’t meet with him, don’t talk on the phone with him, as the source of the call can be traced.

    • Unfortunately, Santorum HAS got some fairly bizarre social views. While better than Ron Paul, he’s certainly not going to attract many independents.

Just look up interviews of how he (very badly) tried to explain his “blah people” remark. Or how he attempted to compare homosexuals/bisexuals to a napkins-and-handkerchiefs analogy. He is simply incapable of withstanding the kind of onslaught which would be directed against him in a national campaign. Only Romney and Gingrich have demonstrated being capable of doing that (whether or not they’d be allowed to succeed is, of course, another matter).

The Obama administration isn’t wrong on this one. It’s just trawling for political ammunition, the same as any other opposing campaign would prepare for.

    • Very few Republicans got re-elected in 2006. It was a horrible year to be running as a Republican. Remember that’s the year that Nancy Pelosi became Speaker……
