Something Happening In America – Romney Drawing HUGE Crowds (WHI RELATED)

Thousands upon thousands of enthusiastic supporters are being spotted at every Mitt Romney campaign stop – something not unnoticed by the Obama White House.  Just look at these pics:

AND CHECK OUT THIS QUOTE FROM MSNBC’S MORNING JOE SHOW – AND NOTE THE MENTION OF INTERNAL POLLING THAT HAS THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN VERY CONCERNED:

-”David Axelrod seems very upset – very agitated.”

-Is there something in there internal polling…a pivot point, that is really worrying the Obama campaign?

-The Republicans are now outspending the Democrats – and that will continue all the way through Election Day.”

AND NOW LET US GO BACK TO WHAT WHITE HOUSE INSIDER SAID ALMOST THREE WEEKS AGO:

UM:  What do the internal polls say?  You look confident – that doesn’t happen when you are worried.  So I assume you have information that is favorable to the Romney team?

WHI:  (BIG SMILE) Guess I gotta work a bit on my…uh… poker face!  Yes-yes-yes…that polling data the public rarely ever gets to see.  The lifeblood of a campaign.  The god-amn internals!

UM:  Well?

WHI:  Those Romney boys…they got a good pile of money and I said they ain’t been spending much just yet.  But they have been doin’ their homework on gathering up a sh-tload of polling data – especially in those swing states.

…And it’s looking good for them.  I’ll tell you that.  Not a slam dunk no worried scenario – but they got a real chance here to win this thing.  Their campaign…it’s been rock solid so far.  Forget the bullsh-t media spin trying to drive home every little supposed mistake they’re makin’ – so far the Romney team is winning this thing.  But the real race hasn’t quite started yet so they gotta be ready for the real show.  That’s coming up next month.  That’s when the real punches start.   And Romney better be ready to  take a punch, cause they are gonna come at him hard.

UM:  The second poll – so they ran another poll? From a larger sample group?

WHI:  Right – exactly.  Spent a bit more money – they want to know EXACTLY where they are in this state.  If they take this state early on Election Night – that could be it for Obama.  One and done.  It’s a swing state you see…but Romney ain’t supposed to win it.  So yeah – they order up a second poll.  Get the group to do it fast – that takes more money.  But they spend it – willing to spend it to be certain of getting real information.  That’s how it’s done – I respect that.  Love a team that works like that.  Let me know where we are at – where we really sit with these people…then let me take it from there.  Get the f-ck outta my way and let me take it from there.

UM:  And what did that second poll show?

WHI:  (Both hands slap down onto their knees and WHI leans well forward in their seat.  Their eyes widened and that BIG smile broke out across their face again)

…Pure gold man.  That second poll…sh-t…it came out even better for Romney.  It bumped him another two points overall…picked up among women…more Independents…even a percentage among Democrats as a whole.  And that poll was done right – it was the real deal.  We ain’t talking some CNN/ABC/CBS/NBC/Gallup  bullsh-t here.  It was boots on the ground, diggin’ in the dirt…the real deal data that is the lifeblood of a campaign.  And it came back aces for Mitt Romney.  In a state he ain’t supposed to be winning!

Now maybe the gravity of this story…what I’m telling you here…maybe it ain’t hittin’ you quite as hard as somebody like me.  For me…for a campaign…you get numbers come back like this in a state that a few months back you are giving yourself maybe a far less than 50/50 shot of winnin’…that kind of poll – DONE TWICE remember – TWICE – that kind of poll…it’s a holy sh-t moment.  In a good way.  The Romney boys had to have been goin’ into a full on happy dance seeing those numbers.  And when they shared them with the candidate himself…even Mitt Romney had to have cracked a real smile.

UM:  But what did they do that earned your respect – or was it just ordering up the second poll?

WHI:  Oh hell no…the second poll was just…that’s just money well spent.  What they did next…and it’s my understanding it was approved by the candidate himself…what they did from there is what took this polling data and turned it into a weapon against the Obama team.  They…I’ll say it like I say it…not their words but mine.  The Romney boys…they took that poll – both polls…they purposely leaked it over to the Obama team.  They slapped the sh-t outta them with it.  HARD.

    • Americans saw the news media jump all over Romney for his Olympic comments. We also saw empty seats everywhere, proving that Mitt is a reliable judge of organizational competence. No wonder Washington is frightened!

And no wonder even those of us who were not particularly excited by his nomination are now energetic and enthusiastic supporters of Romney/Ryan. The crowds are going to be larger still – promise.

      • SueK
      • I have proudly placed a Romney stickah on my bumpah here in Massachusetts (also known as Moonbat Heaven).

Lawn signs are starting to pop up, too :) .

      • GJ Grakowski
      • That’s probably because Romney supporters don’t want their cars to be keyed…or worse. With the lunatic left looking for any excuse to deface or destroy anything that goes against what they believe, a Romney bumper sticker is a perfect target and supplies them with the prefect provocation for vandalism. These people have proven themselves to violent scum.

      • RyanMN
      • I wouldn’t let that worry you too much, Percep. I agree with GJ on this one. In my office, I would say that easily 90% of my peers are conservatives. There’s not a single Romney bumper sticker in the parking lot. It was the same with Bush for both 2004 and 2008. Part of the reason for the lack of Romney stickers is that I think in general, conservatives aren’t the type who typically put their beliefs on their bumper.

And then there’s the issue that GJ touched on. I would guess that in the past couple of years, I’ve heard at least a dozen people at my office mention that they wouldn’t put a conservative bumper sticker on their car out of fear of vandalism. Three of my colleagues have actually had their vehicle vandalized for supporting a conservative on their bumper and word tends to spread when that sort of thing happens.

I suspect that another smaller reason for the lack of stickers is that a fair potion of the enthusiasm for Romney is actually enthusiasm AGAINST Obama. That type of person isn’t typically going to buy a bumper sticker unless it’s a sticker that’s trashing Obama. I may be wrong but I suspect now that Paul Ryan has joined the ticket, you’re going to see a pretty solid number of Romney/Ryan bumper stickers. Paul Ryan is a guy that I believe a lot of Republicans will find themselves more comfortable getting excited about.

    • Very impressive UM. I saw that video of them saying there might have been some internal polls that have the Obama people really freaking out. Made me smile because me and your readers got to hear that news weeks ago. Once again your Insiders say it is going down and then the media rolls out the evidence days or weeks later. I don’t know who you are and I understand you keeping that a secret, but man you deserve a lot of gratitude from a whole lot of us who are thankful you put this site together. And if the shit hits the fan, just come on down to Texas. We still believe in America here. No commies allowed. :)

      • Well said! Love UM and his insiders. Anyone who is paying attention know they are batting about .900 with their predictions. This site is on my daily must visit list. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • But watch your back UM. You have gotten way too much right which we all appreciate but it probably has some Obama thugs thinking its time you are shut up.

      • Pass it and post it everywhere HelenK..it is a story the American people will understand…

It puts the man who calls himself Barack Obama in context…UnAmercan and dangerous…imagine what it took for those retired Military men, Seals and CIA to come out against their commander in chief..

Treason and sedition come to mind and when National Security secrets are being leaked…and 38 of our military men and women and Seals ….are shot down ….when a Lt Col tells a president to “shut the f**k up”. …it tends not get other Americans attention.

    • Here’s a pattern.

Week of 7/30 – Harry Reid drums of spurious charges that Romney has not paid taxes
Week of 8/6 – CNN discovers that Soptic’s story of his late cancer stricken wife was altered to fit a storyline that blamed Mitt Romney. The ad is tied to a pro-Obama superPAC.
Week of 8/13 – Biden makes an unbelievable amount of gaffes, ranging from implied racism to stupidity

One of the cardinal rules of warfare is to keep your opponent distracted and off his game. Seems to me that Romney is spending half his time responding to planted news stories intended to divert his attention from the serious national matters at hand. Obama is petty, and everyone knows it. But in responding perpetually to pettiness, Romney is also appearing petty.

The hour is too late for reality TV-like campaigning. This isn’t a high school popularity contest. Romney would do well to get on HIS message, and FAST. Otherwise, it’ll be November 7 and all we’ll remember is that Joe Biden was (and still is) a tool, Soptic was a liar, and Harry Reid is a bipolar creep.

      • Obeline
      • One would think that, by now, Team Romney would have a surrogate strategy in place to deal with the anticipated and inevitable BS coming from Zero.

One would think that, by now, Romney/Ryan know the rules of the game and understand how to play offensively.

        One would think.

        • RyanMN
        • I can assure you, Randall, this story is true.

There are a couple of regulars on Infowars that are carrying water for Russian intelligence services, but the entity as a whole is not a Russian propaganda outfit.

While I understand that anyone or any entity that professes to be a fan of Ron Paul instantly becomes persona non grata to you and E.A.B., you do a great disservice to anyone that you convince to ignore Infowars as a source of information.

While a significant portion of that site can be ignored as alarmist and even yellow journalism, they are the only news outlet that has reported on some extremely important news stories that have been instrumental in educating Americans on what their government has become.

          • Randall
          • The stories are true. No doubt about that. That’s not in question. I just VERY much doubt there’s a war being planned on the citizenry by our government. That’s silly, insane, and definitely Ruskie.

            • RyanMN
            • I can assure you that there are departments of the government, DHS being one of them, that have become the personal army for Barack Obama. I have seen direct proof of this and I have seen direct proof that the White House is waiting for the opportunity to unleash the DHS on the American Citizenry.

You and E.A.B. are welcome to go chasing windmills all you like in regards to Alex Jones being a commie sleeper agent but you ignore this story and my own assurances of its validity at your own peril.

    • OT but interesting re HILLARY replacing Biden — we’ll probably know before the Repub. convention:

“Sarah Palin also chimed in about the “chains” remark, telling Greta Van Susteren of Fox News, “If that’s not the nail in the coffin, really, the strategists there in the Obama campaign have got to look at a diplomatic way of replacing Joe Biden on the ticket with Hillary. And I don’t want to throw out that suggestion and have them actually accept the suggestion because then an Obama-Hillary Clinton ticket would have a darn good chance of winning.”
The Weekly Standard suggests, “The likeliest time for an announcement that Biden is to be dumped would be just before the GOP convention – around Friday, August 24. This would step on the Republicans’ planned buildup to their convention, and would give Hillary Clinton, perhaps the likeliest replacement, a couple of weeks to resign as Secretary of State to accept her place on the ticket, while arranging a smooth transition at Foggy Bottom.”

      • RyanMN
      • I’m probably wrong about this but I have a tough time believing that they’ll replace Biden. I’m sure Team Obama would LOVE to replace him but wouldn’t it be perceived as a huge sign of weakness if he was replaced this late in the game?

I’d love to hear other opinions on this as I’m sure there are probably angles that I’m not thinking of. It just seems like they’d be opening themselves to a tremendous amount of ridicule and second guessing if they replaced him at this point.

        • USA4ever
        • Nah, I can see Obama wanting to oust Biden but it would be a huge tell of political expediency and why would Hillary jeopardize any future aspirations she has by stepping into the Obama mess?

        • Zero will never admit to making a mistake.

          Joe will not go quietly.

          The options are few.
          Stroke, maybe?

          Cannot fathom Hillary as VP.
Cuomo’s names being bandied about, too.

Wait until Larry Sinclair’s book comes out next month.
Biden Jr, big honcho in Delaware, was complicit in keeping him silent for a while.

    • I want to relate this to the previous thread about Artur Davis. Just one more bit ov corroborating evidence, the rodents abandoning ship. Not only Davis, but others are also trying to switch sides. Many more will follow. A few days ago it was reported that Cass Sunstein has resigned to return to his spider hole at Harvard.Joe and Bo are probably unable and not smart enough to scoot. And a few others like Nappy, Holder, and Justits Stopmayor, the not-so-Wise-Latina, and Justits Kagan the Wise-ass Lesbtina are probably too deeply committed to escape. Remember during the last days of the Cold War when American diplomats risked being trampled by the hordes of KGB types stanpeding toward a defection chance.I look forward to watching Valjar starring in her own “Hitler” video. Some of his Czars may end up hiding in Argentina.

    • When I see these stories, I can’t help but think of the crowds that showed up for Reagan’s funeral and how the media was just awestruck at how many people turned out to mourn the loss of someone they spent many years/much effort despising.

Obama has propaganda, but isn’t very likable. The only people I know who like Obama are uber-Liberals who would vote for any Liberal because that Liberal isn’t a member of the Republican Party.

What does it really say about Obama when people wish that he wasn’t president, but Bill Clinton was? That doesn’t scream genuine affection.

      Is today the day?

Hillary replaces Biden? I believe this will help Obama enormously with the woman vote and the Hispanic vote…and have been forecasting this move on the Dem ticket for over a year….WHI? Really ?

What I do not understand is why Palin was calling for Hillary on the ticket?….Palin is more trouble than help…and I wonder was this her snarky response to not being asked to speak at the convention…Did the Biden pile- on produce a difficult result? Probably in the can and played out with a few revolutionary slavery chains images…

      • AtB,

Palin forced the hand of the administration to admit that Joe is a liability. But at the same time, the Admin and the media despise her. So if they change the ticket, it would seem that they listened to ‘dumb ‘ol Palin’. Her genius in this was to publicly say what many in the Obama camp had been saying and feeling since Joe was notorious for these kinds of gaffes.

I think Palin is a genius at playing political ju-jitsu!! No one does it better. She methodically beat an entrenched and well revered incumbent in Alaska. She understands the game. That’s why she keeps saying; ‘Game On’

Unfortunately for our side, no one understands her. And many believe the hype from MSM. Palin counts on that. And so they never see the upper cut coming to their glass chin!!!

        • truthandjustice
        • Yes —–
“So just in case the Democrats might think about making a switch to Hillary, along comes Sarah Palin to suggest it.

And now they can’t do it even if they wanted to. Obama can’t be seen as taking advice from Sarah Palin.

So she’s helping the Romney ticket by writing Biden off. The Romney ticket wants Biden right where he is.

Finally, it was pure genius of Governor Palin to bring this up because it also reminded Hillary Clinton supporters what happened to her in 2008. Many of whom are still angry over the way she was treated by Obama’s people during that primary, and then snubbed as his vice presidential pick. Ripping the scab off of that wound is not good for Democrat unity before a major general election.

          Bravo, Governor!”

      http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/2011/06/liberal-apocalypse.html

      The Liberal Apocalypse

Ideologies can be roughly divided into the moral and the economic. Moral ideologies seek to guide people in their individual behavior as they seek resources. Economic ideologies are concerned with collective control over how resources are gained and employed. Revolutionary movements are often linked with economic ideologies because resource redistribution is a primary motivator for political upheavals.

The left is both a revolutionary movement and an economic ideology, using the pretext of inequities to seize power in order to engage in economic redistribution. However the modern left’s actual agenda goes well beyond only seizing and redistributing material goods and financial holdings. Its goal is to completely control all human interactions in every form through political, cultural, social and economic tools.

The modern left seeks to seize control of all the competitive forces at the root of all human interactions. Since competition is at the root of human status and achievement, from the economic to the social, from the political to the sexual, to capture and control the competitive forces that drive human beings– is to control humanity. The left promises a “fairer” world in which competition is somehow also made fair. But who defines fair and just what does fair mean? As with all ideologies, it means a system that caters to the leaders of the ideology and their supporters. The ideological propaganda justifies this hijacking as the “fair” thing to do, creating the circular hypocrisy typical of those who steal in their own name.

Since human beings compete for most resources, the ability to capture and control those competitive forces is the ability to rig the game and to control all resources, not only the material ones, but nearly everything that people value in life. Since economic ideologies exist in order to compete for resources, this is the ultimate power play. It is power rendered absolute. Complete control over competition is also complete resource hegemony, which gives them hydraulic despotism, a “water empire” which grants the people who control the tap, ultimate power over all those who need what flows from the tap.

Anyone who is allowed to control competition in order to make resource redistribution “fairer” will eventually openly engage in resource redistribution, unless there is a compelling system of oversight governing his behavior. Since most such systems are either bureaucratic or become so, and since bureaucracies are undemocratic and will expand to the limits of the resources available to them, they are wholly and completely corruptible. Those who redistribute a resource are bound to become corrupted by that resource. The more valuable the resource, the more pervasive the corruption. Because corruption emanates from sources of power. Those who control power become corrupted by it. And those whose power comes from resource redistribution, are corrupted by that very resource.

Resource redistribution however does more than just take “a cut off the top”. While initially it only introduces a middleman into the equation, which raises costs and drives more exchanges into the extralegal “Shadow Economy”, such grander schemes as the left’s are not merely designed to take their cut, but to alter the ground rules under which such exchanges may take place. They aim not merely to profit from the exchange, not only to define the nature of a permissible exchange, which all governments do to some extent, but to control every aspect of a transaction and the relative positions of those engaged in a transaction. The left’s economic ideology demands complete and total control.

An economy has a light and a shadow side. The light side of an economy consists of legal transactions. The shadow side consists of illegal transactions. The more rules are imposed on a transaction, the more likely it is to move from the light to the shadow side of the economy in order to avoid those rules. A system that imposes total control over all transactions will see a dramatic expansion of the shadow side of the economy, until most transactions take place in the shadow side of the economy which transforms that country into a total den of criminality. That phenomenon took place in the USSR under Communism. It is common under Third World dictatorships. Because as free enterprise is suppressed, it flees the light for the darkness. And the Shadow Economy grows.

This has disastrous economic consequences. Because the more rules a system has, the likelier it is to have a larger government. Since larger governments require more resources, they also depend on a larger tax base. The more governments impose taxes and regulations however, the more resource transactions move from the light side and into the Shadow Economy, making it more difficult for governments to take their cut, without themselves becoming involved in the black market. As increased taxation and regulation shrinks the revenue base, governments begin squeezing the shrinking businesses and citizens even harder. This further inflates the Shadow Economy. As those governments attempt to crack down on and control the Shadow Economy, they only make it more profitable, and those profits are used to entangle and corrupt the government officials who are supposed to regulate them. As a result, free enterprise is destroyed and replaced by the black market. The light side of the economy dies and an entire country becomes a Shadow Economy.

The left has ridden this same economic bomb down into the crater many times already. It has never actually learned from those mistakes, because it is unable to concede the destructive consequences of its monopolization of power, the individual choices that will inevitably forestall any of its central planning schemes and its own corruptibility. Worst of all it is unable to realize that it is the problem. That it is the worm in the apple, not the thorn on the rose. That over and over again it destroys everything it touches, that the revolution fails, and the cycle repeats itself again.

Leftist political movements pretend to be symbiotic, but in fact they are parasitic/predatory. They transition from the parasitic (taking a cut) to the predatory (control of all resources) stage by convincing those they prey upon that they are actually symbiotic, that their oversight and regulation will benefit them. Predators and parasites both exist within a self-regulating ecosystem. If they overhunt their prey, they will experience a Dieback.

Imagine that we have a dozen wolves preying on a hundred sheep. As the number of sheep keeps dropping, the number of wolves keeps increasing. If the wolves don’t control their numbers, they will overhunt the sheep. And the wolves will starve to death. Eventually the numbers of the sheep will be restored, unless the wolves wipe them out, in which case both wolves and sheep will die out. This form of resource competition on the animal level, is reflected in resource competitions among human societies as well.

In the human economic ecosystem, a government cannot outgrow the resources it feeds off. If it does, eventually there will be a Dieback, and the government will discover that it does not have enough sheep to feed off. If it continues feeding anyway, it will be destroyed and it will destroy the country it rules over. However this form of recognition requires adaptability. And there are two aspects of liberal rule that are incompatible with adaptability. Bureaucracy and ideology.

Liberals function as ideological aristocrats, exchanging natural human institutions for unnatural ideological institutions as part of their revolutionary reconstruction. Such institutions routinely devolve into bureaucracies as bureaucracy covers up for the failure of their policies, and their own corruptibility and hypocrisy under the guise of objective procedures. And bureaucrats are notoriously resistant to change.

Bureaucracies are both inefficient and endlessly greedy, consuming as many resources as possible. Think of wolves with the brains of sheep. And they cannot be removed democratically. Ideology meanwhile blinds people to the destructive consequences of their own actions, as the central article of faith for nearly every ideology is that nothing bad can come of following its ideas. Combine the two, and you have the formula for armageddon, as ideology reinforces bureaucracy, leading to the end of democracy and the beginning of tyranny.

An ideological bureaucracy is invulnerable to change, except through confrontation. And the ideological component helps fortify it against even democratic attempts at political change. Bureaucracies fulfill the organizational imperative of maximizing power while minimizing accountability by constantly expanding in order to increase the scope of their power, while decentralizing their individual accountability. The result is a giant maw consuming everything in its path, all the while piously certain of its rightness in doing so.

Even as it ushers in an economic armageddon. But the situation is even worse than that.

As I have already stated. leftist political movements within a democratic transition from the parasitic to the predatory through a false symbiosis. Mimicking symbiosis requires giving the populace something that resembles mutual benefits. However in reality, what the left does is addict the populace to entitlements. Using these entitlements as bait, the left seizes control of competitive forces within a society. These entitlements are then redistributed, creating a further appetite for more of the same.

Once in power, the left replaces authentic competition with its own rigged game. Since controlling competition means that it also controls the resources that are being competed for, it has an unlimited ability to draw on those resources for its own needs– without itself being subject to competitive forces. This is the equivalent of a blank check drawn on the entire economy. Now since support for its rule depends on maintaining entitlements, and since it has only been corrupted by that “blank check”, and since it perceives resources from an ideological rather than an objective economic perspective– given a chance the left will squander resources at an uncontrollable and unlimited pace.

In the meantime, it has redefined the economic understanding of a society to view competition as a political, rather than economic activity. Such a society is still able to compete, but it no longer competes for achievement, but for entitlements. It can no longer work for a living, but has come to think purely in terms of cheating or entitlements. And it thinks of cheating and entitlements as legitimate, and hard work as illegitimate. Because its values of competition have been redefined, and it views the intercession of authority as the defining variable that separates legitimate competition, from illegitimate competition. And cheating is the Shadow Economy, the glue that fills in what the entitlements leave out, and is considered legitimate because “it’s coming to me anyway”.

A people who reach this miserable state are thoroughly ruined. They worship authority and live in misery. They cannot work, only look for shortcuts. Any economy they will have can only be built on fraud and government intervention. They are addicts. They have become addicted to entitlements. And those entitlements have thoroughly corrupted both those who distribute the resources and those who receive them. As healthy competition invigorates a society, entitlements corrupt society from the top on down.

The mechanism of addiction requires two things from the pusher. That he never sample his product and that he always find new customers. The left has had trouble with the former, because their own resource redistributions corrupts them from the start. And as to the latter, the left is constantly knocking on every global door, looking for new customers to replace the ones they have already destroyed. Like a perverse Diogenes, they go from country to country, seeking an honest economy, only so they can destroy it.

The left promises fair competition, what it really offers is the tyranny of addiction. And like all addictions, it destroys both the user and the pusher in the long run. Its economic model corrupts the competitive instinct of a society, even as it bankrupts its economy and destroys its democracy. Its false symbiosis quickly reveals as predation, and it sets into place bureaucratic structures to maintain that predation through total control. When it is done, the sun sets on a Free Economy, replacing it with a Shadow Economy. And in the place of a free people, are a nation of slaves looking for a handout or something to steal.

      • Brilliant.

Thanks, ATB. That’s basically Communism 101.

It is very important to understand that the effect of addiction and servitude is precisely what the Global Elite wants to enact. They want addicted slaves they can manage.

    • My mother is 79 years old. She never missed voting in a presidential election & voted for both parties through the years. But she is really fired up now. The woman actually sent Romney money TWICE. She has NEVER let go of her money for any politican- yet she gladly sent him funds. When I asked her what made her move on this election with her finances…she said: “I’ve got to SAVE AMERICA for my grandkids before that Marxist tears it apart in a second term.” The threat is REAL and the American people have recognized the danger.

If Obama wins a second term now- it will be a stuffed ballot box that gave it to him.

    • UM, Way off topic here but I thought I could post something that is really sickening to me in a forum that I know gets a lot of readers. If you want to remove it I totally understand. It is a letter I wrote to society I guess on the subject of pedophilia and a warning that a whole lot of us are being in a way I guess, abused by something that has become very popular.

50 Shades of Grey – Pedophilia Hiding In Plain Sight

The story of convicted child rapist Gerry Sandusky is well known. So to is the 50 Shades of Grey phenomena, a book that has become so popular among women that some are referring to it as “Mommy Porn” for the masses. That description is actually a lot more disturbing than a lot of folks are currently realizing.

Yes, 50 Shades is pornography. Like most pornography, the storyline is weak, the characters one-dimensional, while the sex itself graphic, detailed, but formulaic. The underlying theme to 50 Shades is something far more sinister and appalling though than your mere run-of-the-mill porn. It is pedophilia. It is child porn. Kiddie porn.

Now I know after saying that, many female fans of 50 Shades, many of them mothers, will naturally put up a defense against that kind of description. These women, being mothers, are naturally wired to protect kids. People like Gerry Sandusky are viewed with hatred, revulsion, and disgust. Rightfully so. What mother would want to condone anything having to do with the sexual abuse of children? Of innocents?

But that is exactly what 50 Shades of Grey is really about. It is a story of a girl being sexually molested, over and over again, by a male figure with all the power, all the control. It is the classic abuse scenario. And mothers are, in some cases, quite literally getting off on it, which takes the disgust of this phenomena to a whole other frightening level.

So having put that out there, and I hope I haven’t lost any of you just yet. I owe you an explanation after having made that kind of accusation about a book some of you may be reading right now. I’ll start with a bit of background first.

My professional experience centers around nearly 20 years with Child Protective Services. Over that time, I’ve seen situations that do, literally, keep me up at night. The amount of abuse that is going on in our society, that sexualization of our kids…well basically, what you hear about, what is reported in the news, that is only a small sample of just how large of a problem and the disgusting acts that are going on every day. Kids are being raped. Kids are being abused. Every single day. Over and over and over again.

I didn’t seek out 50 Shades of Grey. It was brought to my attention by a longtime friend who is also a clinical psychologist at a university. She’s a bit older than me. She grew up in the counter culture era and did her fair share of experimentation of all kinds. So she’s hardly a prude. What she today though is a mother and grandmother. And she’s smart. One of the things that fascinates her is this age of cultural phenomena. How due to technology things now spread so quickly throughout society and become the next big thing at an increasingly rapid pace. She says sometimes this phenomena is pretty much harmless, and other times it can be very damaging to kids and or adults who begin to emulate something out of a need to belong to the “next big thing”.

Her reaction to 50 Shades of Grey though was much more aggressively negative than anything I could recall her talking about before. It came up because I mentioned it to her offhand. I had seen a couple mentions of it on the news and knowing her interest in cultural trends, asked her about it. She stopped talking, looked right at me, and said the book was about pedophilia. And it was her who then connected it to the Sandusky tragedy where so many young boys had been sexually abused. Sandusky committed his acts of crime under the cover of actually helping youth. That is how he gained access. My friend said 50 Shades was basically the same exact thing. Its cover was a story of a young woman engaging is a very graphic sexual relationship with a somewhat older man.

The problem for her, and it was a BIG PROBLEM, was that the narrator in the story, was in fact, an underage girl. My friend indicated, based on the use of language in the narration, that this girl was likely no more than 12 or 13 years of age. I made mention that the girl in the story was actually getting ready to graduate college. My friend, a woman with years of experience as a clinical psychologist, whose expertise I had personally witnessed a number of times over the years, shook her head and told me that she would not be able to convince me by simply talking about it. She said I should read the book myself, but do so with the eyes of somebody whose job it had been for many years to try and protect children. As someone who has seen over and over the signs of abuse, and the damages of abuse. Because there are always warning signs. I know that. How many times have I heard people horrified in saying “I can’t believe I didn’t see that” “How couldn’t I have known?” Or even worse, “I knew something wasn’t right but I didn’t want to believe they were capable of doing something like that.”

I’ll try and summarize my friend’s words at this point as best I can.

“Sexual predators are cons. They almost always have a cover. It’s that cover which allows them access. 50 Shades of Grey is a con. It now has access to millions of readers. It is a story about abuse from beginning to end. And it’s not just the abuse of a man and a woman – it’s the abuse of a man and a girl.

When you read it, look for the signs. They are all there.

The female character has no sexual experience. None. She is given the age of 21, but that age is itself a cover. Her true emotional age is much-much younger. She has never even masturbated. She has never even experienced an orgasm. That alone is one of the greatest attractions to the pedophile. That is the psychology of that kind of act. You get off on taking purity.

But move from the fact the girl has no sexual experience whatsoever. Now pay attention to her narrative dialogue. Really listen to how she talks. Again, she’s not talking like a young woman, she’s talking like a girl. She talks about cartwheels, and skipping, over and over again it is the language and the imagery of a girl.

After that this girl has her innocence taken from her. The abuser, the older man, makes her think its her choice. Again, you and I both know that is one of the primary tools of the pedophile. They create an environment where the child feels it’s their idea. It’s what they want. But what happens after that innocence is taken away? Then the abuser becomes more openly abusive. Controlling. In this story he tells the little girl how to speak. What to wear. What to eat. He is Daddy and she is daughter. When you read it read it like a mother who is also a woman who is experienced with the real life tragedy of abuse.

And there is many more themes about that abuse in this book. There is spanking and the use of Baby oil. Why baby oil? Think about it. The girl wears pigtails. She complains that he is treating he like a child. He says she acts like a child. There is even a scene where the abuser creates a situation to take her innocence from her again. He rips out her tampon and engages in forceful sex yet again. Her hymen is ripped, and the bloody remnants of it are again symbolized in an act of pedophile rape.

She went on to say there are women now defending the book, and she understands that, but it concerns her. A great deal, because she is absolutely convinced the book is purposely advocating the raping of a child and attempting to normalize that atrocity.

So, I left that conversation thinking maybe my friend was exaggerating. I had a hard time believing something so popular could actually have such a sinister and revolting theme, and while I respected her expertise and experience, thought this time she had to be seeing something that just wasn’t there.

I got the book, I sat down, and I read it.

The first thing that struck me was how poor the writing was. It wasn’t just bad. It was horrible. But horrible writing is no crime, (thank goodness or I would have been put away a long time ago) and it doesn’t make the content of the story evil. But in my reading of it, just like my friend said, the theme of child abuse, of pedophilia, was right there in plain sight. I remember being told a long time ago that sometimes the best way to hide something is in plain site. That is what 50 Shades of Grey is really doing.

The main character had no sexual experience. None. She was an innocent. She was a kid who had just had her first drink of alcohol. No way that was an accident by the author. That author had to have purposely made her, despite her given age of 21, by any other measure, a little girl. At that point, it struck me as odd. In my business, we call that a warning signal. A sign we may have a problem.

From there, just like my friend had warned, it got worse. Much worse. And she was right, her telling me about it did not have the impact of me reading it myself with eyes open. She had given me the signs to look for, and as I turned the pages, those signs confirmed it over and over again.

The narration, which is the voice of the girl talking to the reader, was the voice of a little girl. It’s unmistakable. There is very little emotional maturity and absolutely no sexual maturity. She is seduced by this man in the very same way a pedophile seduces a child. The male character is Gerry Sandusky. He makes a show of his money, his power, the things he can buy for her, but while this is going on, we are reading the thoughts of a child. We are reading the seduction of a little girl by a pedophile. She is almost completely powerless. She is naïve even for a teenager, and certainly much much more naïve than a college student. She is incapable of even making the most simple of every day decisions and must be told what to do by her abuser, who in turn though spends a lot of time and effort convincing this child this is really what she wants. I’ve seen this before. Too often. Too many times. And it always leaves me sickened.

We are reading child pornography. Remove the false age of the girl, which has no basis in reality, and what we are actually reading is the abuse of a little girl.

The main character is described in pigtails, given words like “Holy Cow” “down there”, “jeez” “double crap” she can’t operate a computer (but is supposedly a college graduate), describes skipping and doing cartwheels, repeatedly says she is made to feel like a child, has her imaginary friend (inner goddess) feels shame, is spanked and slathered in BABY OIL, told what to say, what to eat, what to do, until finally and sadly so predictably, is physically beaten. (But she returns to him soon after, which is again, a very common theme of abuse, including pedophilia)

And beyond all of this evidence there is the fact that the male character is himself a product of sexual abuse at the hands of a pedophile. The girl whose thoughts we listen in on as she is being abused, recognizes this aspect of the male abuser, but apparently, is too naïve or unwilling to realize she has continued this cycle of abuse herself. (Which again reinforces the idea that she is actually herself just a child) There is no way the author did this by accident. She puts out the theme of pedophilia openly, therefore hiding it in plain sight.

People who have had to deal with the real world of sexual abuse of children will understand this perhaps more easily than others. How the pedophile is so often themselves victims of earlier abuse. They enter society, they become fathers or mothers, but so often they too become abusive. They seek out dominance, control, and the taking of innocence just as it was taken from them. Those who were once abused, become the abuser. It is the sad sick and tragic cycle of pedophilia.

With 50 Shades of Grey this abnormal condition is trying to be normalized. Thanks to the insight of my friend, and my own experience, I know it for what it truly is – a story of the sexual abuse of child, wrapped in the cliché cover story of a mysterious and troubled wealthy man. That is another thing my clinical psychologist friend pointed out later. Take away the aspect of money, and the character of the abuser becomes much less attractive and therefore it would have been much more difficult to pull of the deception. Are women actually that shallow? Yes, we can be.

But women, the vast majority of us, are not people who knowingly condone the sexual abuse of children. We do not condone in any way, the horror that is pedophilia.

Sadly though, that is exactly what is happening with the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey. It’s a pedophilia con.

It is one of the most horrible and sickening acts against the most powerless of our society, hiding in plain sight.

Maybe my friend put it best when we talked all of this over. 50 Shades of Grey didn’t excite her. She didn’t find it interesting, sexy, or romantic.

50 Shades of Grey made her weep. It made her sick. It made her think of the abuses of all of those kids by a demented, warped monster like Jerry Sandusky, who, just like the pedophilia of 50 Shades of Grey, was hiding in plain sight.

    • Thank you Kat for your insight into this rather awful book. I’ve never understood why it has become so popular – for one the writing is dreadful – but the content is just as bad. Cliched, stereotyped, supposed to be groundbreaking but just comes across as offputting. I hadn’t considered the child porn angle before, but it’s as plain as day once you explained it to me.

For me the saddest thing about child sexual exploitation in our modern society is that so many people seem to find it strangely chic – witness the apologists for Roman Polanski and that appalling Obama staffer Kevin Jennings. It’s like they want to ‘free’ children to ‘find their sexuality’ – when all they want, as you say, is to get off on it. They don’t consider the life long damage that sexual abuse can inflict on a child, and it is abuse, not ‘freedom of sexuality.’ Children instinctively avoid sexual contact with adults – and they recoil when it is forced upon them. To subvert that is to destroy the child and destroy the adult inside.

Great post. Opened my eyes on the book. Thank you.
