Media and Obama White House Continue Benghazi Deflection – For Now

This morning’s headlines show that while some mainstream media sources are indicating a desire to place pressure upon the Obama White House’s role in the Benghazi Massacre and subsequent cover-up, other media remain unwilling to give the story the coverage it most certainly deserves.

(Four Americans, including  U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed last month by a terrorist attack. The Obama White House remains unwilling to fully disclose to the public what happened)

    • ******Gen Ham was fired 30 seconds after deciding to intervene in Benghazi: *****

I heard a story today from someone inside the military that I trust entirely. The story was in reference to General Ham that Panetta referenced in the quote below.
      quote:
“(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place,” Panetta told Pentagon reporters. “And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”

The information I heard today was that General Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place.

General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.

General Ham then received the order to…… “stand down”. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow.

Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now……. “relieved of his command”.

The story continues that now General Rodiguez would take General Ham’s place as the head of Africon.
I found this story when I got home after hearing this story.

      quote:
President Barack Obama will nominate Army Gen. David Rodriguez to succeed Gen. Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command and Marine Lt. Gen. John Paxton to succeed Gen. Joseph Dunford as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced.

As I was typing this I heard John Bolton on Greta say that there are conflicting reports of General Ham’s comments on this tragedy and why a rapid response unit was not deployed. Bolton says someone needs to find out what Ham was saying on 9/11/12

There have been several comments on FOX that this was a “Covert” CIA Operation in Libya moving weapons to our Enemies in Middle East!

      • From a blog much earlier than this debacle, showing that General Ham was knowledgable about the means for delivering a mobile defense/extraction of trapped and besieged men:

“Ham also disclosed that the U.S. is providing some strike aircraft to the NATO operation that do not need to go through the special approval process recently established. The powerful side-firing AC-130 gunship is available to NATO commanders, he said.

“His answer countered earlier claims by the Pentagon that all strike aircraft must be requested through U.S. European Command and approved by top U.S. leaders, including Defence Secretary Robert Gates.

“Ham said that process still applies to other fighters and the A-10 Thunderbolt, which can provide close air support for ground forces, He said that process is quick, and other defence officials have said it can take about a day for the U.S. to approve the request and move the aircraft in from bases in Europe.”

I bring your attention back to this:
“U.S. is providing some strike aircraft to the NATO operation that do not need to go through the special approval process recently established.”

This means that General Ham a priori acknowledged that there were certain circumstances in which he would act unilaterally, or at least not with the burden of a day’s wait through the COC.

Undoubtably, Obama was burned by Panetta taking his UBL intitiative away from him; unboutably, Obama wanted to pay them back for making him look like a golf-jacketed pansy: Obama is full owner of this effing mess.

    • That isn’t too much pressure on the WH. They all just say requests for help were “denied by CIA chain of command,” instead of ‘by the (p)resident occupier’ as they should.

    • Occasionally, I visit so called “conspiracy” sites. You know Mayan prophecy, ufos, etc. Bengazi is being covered extensively on those sites, where many young voters and Democrats participate. So the word is getting out there, just not in the traditional way.

    • Rurik
    • Yes Obeline, another one. This is what we call a purge. Remember Archibald Cox and the Saturday Night Massacre? Oh wait, today is Saturday.
This is also evidence of informal political commissars embedded within the command structure. It is also a sign that there are some senior officersa, some of the Black (Gen. Ham) who remember a thing or two abouot duty and loyalty to country, and subordinates, and thus Constitution. Another ray of hope. Have we found our American Pinochet?

    • Ebysan, Jules, Obeline, Rurik, Vyxen and others,

When General Ham was relieved of command, one has a mental picture: the subordinate had a weapon trained on the General. Would that be accurate, or are there other ways to relieve a high-ranking General via subordinate?

    • Someone please report this to ATTTAAAAACKWAAAATCH!

Hey! Mr. Prez. I wanna report a traitor, someone who would sell out to our nation’s enemies for a blunt; he was last seen entering the Whitehouse wearing a golf jacket; he walked like a pansy and he had this dumb look on his face, like someone who’d farted himself bloody or something. I think he was black.

      Yours,

    • Yep..
Obama was dragged kicking and screaming to witness the execution of BinLaden, he did not authorize.
Now, he has put the military on a very short leash and the whole deal exploded in his stupid and treasonous face.
If he loses it will be primarily because of the first debate and his Libya-gate.

    • Forgive me if this is a repost that someone else has made; it’s part of a summary by someone with a good sense of duty and an eye for the truth; this is an excerpt that is particularly relevant:

      Taken from this link: http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2012/10/benghazi-a-reader-assesses-the-evidence.php

“Tyrone Woods was painting a target with a ground laser designator (GLD). Those are only used when the air asset is overhead, ready to fire. The jihadis can use cell phones with night-vision capabilities to see the laser beam, which then pinpoints the location of the person using the GLD. As a former Navy SEAL, Woods would’ve known that. He would only have exposed himself if he thought that the mortar squad was about to be taken out. The air asset didn’t fire, and Woods and Glen Doherty were killed by the mortar squad.

There was either a Spectre gunship or an armed Predator or Reaper drone overhead, and it was denied permission to fire. That’s the only explanation that fits. Woods would not have used his GLD for any other reason than to paint a target for an immediate air strike.”

“Only the commander of AFRICOM and the president have the authority to tell the air asset to not fire in this situation.”

      My summary of this summary:
The target’s painted; there must be air cover available and in the vicinity.

    • The previous post – the reprint from the Reader’s analysis – indicates a high likelyhood of the reports of General Ham’s removal being rock-solid; he may not have been the only one, too: it’s possible that the Stennis Admiral was removed for the same reasons, and that it was his ship that had assets already available and in the neighborhood, ready to take out the terrorists.

      • Ebysan,
I wish stephanopolous had been within arms reach of Pat when he was at the top of his temper! There would have been a very short fight, with a very short man on the ground knocked cold.

The MSM may ignore the story, but they’re being bypassed anyway – and Americans are actually growing more angry at Obama because of the media’s indolence and apathy on Benghazi.

        Thanks for posting the link.
