2014 – Today The Battle Began In Michigan – And Conservatives Won…

Michigan added itself to the growing list of right-to-work states – now nearly half the states in the country.  Despite vocal threats from union members who swarmed the state capitol, and now ongoing threats from Democrats – including President Barack Obama, Michigan law makers sent a decisive message to Big Labor/Big Government – WE ARE FIGHTING BACK.

Democrats threaten violence on Michigan House floor

There will be blood,” State Representative Douglas Geiss threatened from the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives today as the body debated legislation that would make Michigan the nation’s 24th right to work state.

Michigan has both the highest unionization and unemployment rates in the Midwest.  LINK

Seems like only yesterday Barack Obama was running for re-election and boasting of how his administration had “saved” the auto industry, Detroit, and Michigan.  That was a lie of course – but the Mainstream Media happily perpetuated it for him.  What Barack Obama did was illegal theft of the auto industry bond holders, award partial ownership to his Labor Union cronies to protect them from imminent extinction, and then drastically increase orders by the federal government for vehicles the government did not need to pad the sales reports of those companies he just took over – all on the taxpayer’s dime of course.

Now, even moderate Democrats in Michigan, (yes, they do exist) are fed up with the bullying no compromise tactics of the labor unions and are, for the first time in decades, pushing back – ignoring the threats of union leaders and Barack Obama himself.

The Battle of 2014 is underway – and it appears to have started in Michigan today…

    • “…relive the battle of the overpass?” What? One hundred years of blah, blah, blah.

So stuck in a time warp these libs. And regarding unions, they still want to act as though ‘workers’ are out there building the railroads, carving out habitation from the wilderness, and working for heartless robber barons.

Tangentially, notice how they always use the “You-can’t-scream ‘fire’-in-a-crowded-theater” example in discussing free speech? That is because that’s the ancient (and out-dated) example their teachers and professors, who got it from their teachers and professors, used. We have emergency exits; and if there is a fire, a person does want to know.

Well, Dems have their pants on fire so much, I guess it must get old.

    • Hope America is watching and really listening to the Union thuggery being heard on the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives. The unions have become a greater monster than they were created to address. Unions destroyed the auto industry and education…even our beloved “Twinkie.” Employees haven’t had much choice in past years, they joined the union or didn’t work. With OSHA, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, etc., employees are protected. The unions are merely using their membership to line union boss’s pockets and using their pension funds for their own ends.

    • What I love is the tired, Liberal meme that unions lead the fight against those big, bad corporations.

Since when are unions NOT big, bad corporations?

They’re big, bad, CORRUPT as all Hell, massively self-interested and lack any accountability whatsoever.

      (excerpt)
The Battle of the Overpass was an incident on May 26, 1937, in which labor organizers clashed with Ford Motor Company security guards at the River Rouge Plant complex in Dearborn, Metro-Detroit, Michigan.

The United Auto Workers had planned a leaflet campaign entitled, “Unionism, Not Fordism”, at the pedestrian overpass over Miller Road at Gate 4 of the River Rouge Plant complex. Demanding an $8 (equivalent to $129 today) six-hour day for workers, in contrast to the $6 (equivalent to $97 today) eight-hour day then in place, the campaign was planned for shift change time, with an expected 9,000 workers both entering and leaving the plant.

Sadly, some of us can’t say “whatever”. Reuther, one of the UAW leaders involved, has a highway named for him here in the Metro area. The Reuther is I-696 for anyone who’s curious.

      • Exactly, my thoughts too… who won today? Who’s been winning? Delusions of grandeur are always misleading and this move today is what I would classify as “small ball.” Unions don’t have to fight, they already have what they wanted, a unionized federal government. With the supremacy clause, the rest is gravy for the globalist movement that would take down the US with the aid of our wonderful anti-colonialist in chief.

Oh yea, and never forget… inside the beltway there is no such thing as party definition, it’s all homogeneous. What you see on TV is simply kabuki theater, nothing more. While there are good people on the Hill, the machine that would take down the US knows how to deal with them… and very effectively I might add.

Can’t wait for the revenge to begin to take place as Jarrett promised, can you say Supreme Court? I mean, afterall, they were one vote from losing their pet project in ObamaCare. Can’t take any more chances, now can we.

    • If this is happening in blue, pro-union Michigan the battle has truely begun. The Walter Reuther brings back a lot of memories. Family that still live in Detroit say the desolation stretches for miles and there’s a good chance the city will declare bankruptcy. Michigan knows very well the results of union corruption and has had enough. This is great!
