A very interesting choice of words from one of the two award winning journalists who brought down the Nixon administration almost 40 years ago. Liberal-leaning Bob Woodward declares he has not seen the kind of madness being exhibited by Barack Obama “in a long time.”

(The similarities these days are rather striking between Barack Obama and Richard Nixon)

BOB WOODWARD: Obama Is Showing ‘A Kind Of Madness I Haven’t Seen In A Long Time’
The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward ripped into President Barack Obama on “Morning Joe” today, saying he’s exhibiting a “kind of madness I haven’t seen in a long time” for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns.
”Can you imagine Ronald Reagan sitting there and saying, ‘Oh, by the way, I can’t do this because of some budget document?’” Woodward said.
“Or George W. Bush saying, ‘You know, I’m not going to invade Iraq because I can’t get the aircraft carriers I need?’” Or even Bill Clinton saying, ‘You know, I’m not going to attack Saddam Hussein’s intelligence headquarters,’ … because of some budget document?”
“Under the Constitution, the President is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the President going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement. ‘I can’t do what I need to do to protect the country,’” Woodward said.
“That’s a kind of madness that I haven’t seen in a long time,” he said. LINK

Yes indeed…the kind of arrogant, self-serving madness not seen since…Richard Nixon.
Not seen since…Watergate.
Woodward has been increasing his criticism of the Obama White House of late – namely on the false sequester crisis, and facing a barrage of push back from the Obama administration for it. Clearly the message has gone out to other media – DON’T MESS WITH OBAMA.
Bob Woodward is an institution unto himself though and may just have the means to survive the Obama Chicago treatment.
If only more in the media would have the fortitude to follow Mr. Woodward’s most recent example…

We are living in the bizarro world where everything is opposite of what it should be.
Drudge headline links you to an alledged news article where by Woodward is claiming a Sr. White House official supposedly told Woodward he’d regret this!!

You know if they threatened a well known, respected journalist like Woodward, you can bet they threatened many other small-time reporters. Although, unlike Woodward, they knuckled under and did what they were told.
I don’t agree with Woodward’s views, much of the time, but I definitely give him credit for coming out with this. Maybe more reporters will follow his lead.
I’m willing to bet the high-ranking, WH official is Jarrett. This sounds like something she would do.
Now Lanny Davis, a liberal ex- Bill Clinton aid (WH employee?) who supports Obama, is now saying he was threatened too by a WH higher up. Lanny said Woodward’s veil threat was very similar to his!
EDIT the above post in reference to Lanny Davis…
Lanny is claiming his newspaper’s editor was threatened due to Lanny’s article(s).
2nd request to post this comment.
More on this subject matter…
Ron Fournir of the National Journal is now accusing the White House too…
“Why Bob Woodward’s Fight With The White House Matters to You And why I iced a senior Obama White House official.”

All the President’s Thugs
February 27th, 2013 – 7:37 pm
Hey, Bob, you can’t say we didn’t warn you. We knew this White House was capable of attacking even the great Bob Woodward for telling the truth.
You could have listened to Michael Barone. He saw it coming even before Barack Obama was elected. In October 2008, he penned “The Coming Obama Thugocracy.”
I experienced it when DOJ press harpy Tracy Schmaler yelled at a half dozen reporters, as the White House official did to you, about my under-oath testimony involving the New Black Panther dismissal. Her victims included Pete Williams, Quin Hillyer, and Sharyl Attkisson. After Schmaler’s thug tendencies were well known, she was nurtured and promoted within the Thugocracy instead of being canned, as any administration before this one would have done to her — Republican or Democrat.
Schmaler has since been appointed a Made Man of sorts, entering the rarefied private sector air of David Axelrod’s shop.
Schmaler’s story is typical of this gang. Her shouting, threats, and rants at reporters would have rendered her unqualified to serve in the press shop of a state department of agriculture.
But there is something unique about the Obama White House. It borrows tactics and standards from the darker figures in history — threats, projection, unrepentant dishonesty, towering columns in stadiums, and even bloody mayhem like Fast and Furious hatched for political purposes.
Richard Nixon seems like a fluffy kitten compared to this crowd.
Which brings us back to you, Mr. Woodward. What’s happened when you, of all people, are the bad guy?
Had you ventured into any cocktail party in Silver Spring or Takoma Park just a few years ago, you would have been treated like a hero — liberal Washington’s very own version of Pittsburgh Pirate Bill Mazeroski, who with one swing of a bat brought down the reviled Nixon. “Maz” never had to pay for a meal in Pittsburgh after that October afternoon in 1960 when he delivered a World Series.
That used to be you, Bob. But now, you’re the problem!
You, of all people, threatened by a Democrat White House.
And where are your defenders? Where are the new hipster reporters of the left to defend you? Where have all the flowers gone, they used to ask.
But this is serious stuff. When the elder statesman of the industry that guards the First Amendment is threatened by the White House, it marks a dangerous turn. When other “reporters” join in, it is even more dangerous.
Perhaps this will be enough for the usual phalanx of fools at places like Mother Jones, TPM Muckraker, and The Nation to at last wonder if we’ve come full circle back to those days of righteous triumphs in August 1974. Outrage toward abuse of power was so in vogue. Where is the righteous indignation that seized a nation beginning in May 1973?
Maybe it was all a show, Bob.
Did the wave you started have more to do with the “R” after Nixon’s name than principle?
With you, I’d say it was principle. But with the rest of the liberal left, it’s starting to look like poor Dick Nixon got a raw deal compared to this mischief of rats.
Who haven’t these knuckleheads threaten who’s opposed them? Afterall, that IS the Chicago thuggish way. I am truly dumbfounded that there are so many cowards who find this criminal behavior acceptable and, in fact, want to become a willing participant. It reminds me of Hitler in 1938 and Kristallnacht when Hitler consolidated his power. When you read the history of events of the evolution of Nazi Germany just replace the word Jews with patriots and the similarities are remarkably familiar.
But it really is true that for evil to exist all it takes is for good people to say nothing.
I am convinced that the evil forces have revealed themselves. As Ephesians 6:12 states: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in HIGH PLACES.” Very apropos…
This is worth watching with interest. Bob Woodward has the reputation of being a respected journalist. I have no doubt that he did not like Richard Nixon, but that is beside the point.
With the current White House behaving in such a bully boy fashion, the floodgates have been opened.
If Bob Woodward is the real deal as an investigative journalist, then he needs to start digging. There is plenty of material that will lead to an impeachment. He has a great range of choices without touching the issue of the fact that Obama is ineligible to be President because his father was a Kenyan.
For example, a Woodward expose about Pigford would do wonders. If Pigford is not the go then there is getting to the bottom of Fast and Furious, there is Solyndra and the money given to Obama bundlers. He could investigate the fact that funds were illegally raised in the Middle East for the Obama Presidential Campaign. Then there is the Election fraud that was perpetrated upon the people in the last election. The big one is Benghazigate.
He has a lot of choice material and all of it has the potential to see Obama impeached and a whole lot of people going to prison… including Valerie Jarrett.
For good measure Woodward could do an expose on Valerie Jarrett and her real estate dealings in Chicago. It would make for a lot of entertainment.
No one is above the law, not in the USA and not here in Australia. In the end they will get picked off.
