While his father Ron Paul was long considered something of a political outlier banished years ago from the Republican Mainstream, Senator Rand Paul has managed to quickly rise up within the ranks of the GOP machine – so much so that Senate Minority Leader and longtime Republican power player Mitch McConnell is publicly embracing the Rand Paul phenomenon.

At CPAC, McConnell Embraces Rand
Mitch McConnell, the leader of the GOP minority in the Senate, struck an upbeat tone in his Friday morning address to the conservative activists gathered at CPAC. “Friends, this is a moment of renewal. I truly believe it,” he said. In this era of new beginning, McConnell is seeking his sixth Senate term next year, and the 71-year-old conservative Republican is embracing his much younger Kentuckian, Rand Paul.
“More than ever, we need the kind of constitutional conservatives we’ve got in the Senate who’ve been really bringing the fight to the left,” McConnell said to loud cheers. “And I’m going to mention my Kentucky colleague Rand Paul as an example of that. He’s a perfect example of what I’m talking about. He’s a warrior, and we need more warriors.”
“Last week, Rand reminded the world that politics isn’t just about tactics,” McConnell said. “Actually, it isn’t just about ideas, either. It’s about standing up for your values and your principles. It’s about courage.” LINK

This gesture by Senator McConnell favoring the more outspoken politics of younger Republicans will not go unnoticed, and is a signal to others within the GOP that figures such as Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, and Ted Cruz, among others, are the real future of the party. While McConnell’s colleagues such as Senator John McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham attempted to recapture their own quickly fading relevance, Mitch McConnell, facing a re-election battle in 2014, understands McCain and Graham represent the kind of Republicans conservatives have grown tired and frustrated with.
A new Republican era is now upon us.
The Power of Paul…

The United States is no more…and hidden away within the isolated wilderness of Alaska’s interior resides the tiny community of Dominatus. There lives a small but diverse group of people seeking out simple lives of personal liberty and freedom, but who now face termination under the oppressive and deadly regime of the New United Nations. They will fight, and if need be die, for an America that once was. An America before being swallowed up by the monster of tyrannical global governance. An America before the mandates. An America before the government drone killings. An America before Obama… LINK

As much as McConnell wants to believe he’s a conservative republican, I can only believe he’s embracing Rand because of the upcoming election. 2014 is going to be a blood bath period. Also, he’s 71 – time to retire.
You’ve got that right JoleneAL. They’ll be much scurrying by the RINO’s to find cover.
As a side note: this will be my last post here. I am getting tired of posting here Ulsterman, and having my posts deleted because what I write? It’s the truth. Anyway, judging by the handful of posters left here I probably am not alone in my criticisms here. Unfortunately, you, or an Administrator who manages your website, chooses to delete comments that do not fit the agenda.
It’s too bad really, because a good robust debate on issues can invigorate your passion in your positions on the issues regardless of which position you take. It seems that now all that you’ve allowed is a boring compilation of “RAH-RAH’s” who rarely challenge the “group-think” mentality. No wonder the Republican Party suffers resounding defeats trying to capture the public’s attention. It is because correctly debating positions (as Ronald Reagan was able to do) brings a wider audience into the debate, which allows you to influence a larger portion of the electorate. As I have noticed here is that debate, exchanging of thought provoking ideas and beliefs helped remedy a stiffening and rigid position closing off inlets of ideas.
I remember a few of years ago when Ulsterman was using the Triond website to host his page. I was glad to see you got away from all the “Pop-Ups” Triond attached to your blog, unfortunately, you have have reverted to those annoying pop-ups again. Anyway, like soo many before me, I too am leaving here. For me the decision to leave has become a rather easy choice now. There’s a few posters who’ve provided great material and those are the one’s I’ll truly miss, but for the most part I will not miss the censoring here. Hell, if I wanted censoring I’d change my affiliation to communist.
And finally, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…” Hosea 4:6.
Yeah, practically nothing I post is permitted here for political reasons.
Go Ron Paul/Rand Paul (a close enough substitute).
“Last week, Rand reminded the world that politics isn’t just about tactics,” McConnell said. “Actually, it isn’t just about ideas, either. It’s about standing up for your values and your principles. It’s about courage.”
With all due respect Sen. McConnell … you shouldn’t need such reminding. You have become a symbol, along with Rep. Boehner, of moral cowardice. And like a looter/moocher, you use people (as in this case, Sen. Paul) as means to your own ends instead of respectfully treating them as ends in themselves. Pathetic.
Agreement with the 2 previous posters…McConnell may soon be facing the biggest of juggernauts…..liberal woman Hollywood type (Ahsley Judd has been in the news for potential run against the geezer McConnell). She can claim victimhood for being a victim of “war on women,” excite the liberal base ( if there is one in Kentucky) and would be able to match fundraising with both traditional liberal sources plus and extra stash from her Hollywood buddies with whom she;s been catting around with these many years. This Ms. Judd is also from deep southern stock with great name recognition (Judd sisters) and is a huge booster for Kentucky Wildcats basketball team….seen at nearly every game. For this latter reason she’s get liberals and also possible larger than usual black turnout from basketball fans.
Mitch is wise to not underestimate her if she does run. This is actually a shrewd move from the geezer in supporting Rand while the iron’s hot. He’ll endear himself to SOME of the youth vote and might even snag a few paleos and Libertarians in the process plus the base.
While what McConnell said may be just tactical in nature, to carry him over the next election, I’m not sure he is not willing to take the fight to the demsheviks.
He may be truly pissed at them (and the amnesty bros) and he may want to leave a legacy of positive leadership in the Senate.
Time will tell.
His father was and is a kook. An absolute nutter. Ron Paul’s positions are downright unAmerican… forget the Old Right, his policies were just bizarre. I’m tired of people trying to pass off Ron Paul as if he was actually a great statesman. It’s closer to the truth to say he was a traitor. Remember his rants against Reagan and Pres. George H.W. Bush? Remember how he left the party in disgust? Or would we rather forget that history because Rand’s filibuster? I won’t and can’t. Then of course there was the vote for Hagel.
The thought of handing the party to Rand makes me extremely uneasy.
Balderdash.
Firstly, his authorisation for Hagel (and especially the laughable way he justified it) should be enough, in itself, to disqualify him from serious consideration for anything.
Secondly, look who he was supporting – TO THE HILT – in this previous election cycle. He wasn’t supporting Ron in a peripheral way out of familial obligation. He was actively promoting him and all his policies as much as possible. If you support Rand, you’re also supporting Ron, like it or not.
The two issues ARE linked, however, since Hagel pretty much had similar positions to Ron Paul’s own – and a similar way of trying to obfuscate about the more controversial ones.
Hence, if you like Rand, you not only like Ron, but you’re a fan of Hagel, too. They’re just different facets of the same toxic prism. Don’t get caught up in a politician’s personality cult – that’s how the Democrats ended up with the guy who now represents them.
Mark Levin said it best, “I apologize to our men and women in the military for Chuck Hagel getting confirmed as Sec of Defense. You deserve better.”
For me, Rand Paul negated all the good his filibuster did by voting to confirm Hagel.
Ron Paul’s lifetime American Conservative Union rating is above 82%. Rand Paul’s rating thus far in his short 2 year career is 100%.(same as Rubio).
I was disgusted with George H.W. Bush myself……new world order thing didn’t turn me on really. Bush Sr’s cronies New World Order(globalization) is now in full view. How many of you like this “new world order? His (Bush Sr’s) obedience to, and implementation of the New World Order is something I CAN’T NOR WON’T forget.
Can someone do us all a generous favor and say what exactly the “New World Order” is?? Are they reptilian?
It’s the evil cabal of the uber wealthy calling the shots on how the world will be run. I pray for their demise or wealth destruction nightly.
Randall…..you’re kidding right???
Have you heard of UN Agenda 21? Did you read UM’s interview with WSI? Reread WSI’s interviews…..ecspecially the one where he tells UM to pay attention to certain buildings in Washington DC near the White House and to connect the dots.
These initiatives were written back in the 60′s and early 70′s. Agenda 21, US State Dept publication 7277….everything you need to see plain as day.
Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama all advance the agenda by small steps. Bush Sr started the unveil with his ushering in the New World Order propaganda. Damn right Ron Paul was opposed to it….these were anti American positions then and now.
The goals are a one world police force / army, one world currency, religion, politcal system etc….
Ron Paul is not a tool of these one world tools. With Rand…the jury’s still out but he’s showing promise.
I have a very hard time believing that. Our government can’t keep secrets that well, and it’s even less likely that coordinating governments could keep a secret of that import.
Let me rephrase that – I don’t believe it. If you’re talking about the Socialists, well, they’re in considerable trouble in Europe.
Randall,
You don’t want to believe the world is run by various factions of the “New World Order”: Illuminati, Jesuits, Jews, the Black Nobility. Check out usdebtclock.org .
Notice the total derivatives number, over $626 TRILLION. The whole world is only worth $100 trillion. Then there by credible accounts ANOTHER $800 TRILLION in the derivatives market. What does this mean? It means that someone is artificially controlling the world economy playing banker in a global Monopoly Game or a Global Casino. Most still want to think about the Revolutionary implications of this becaues they like to feel their life is settled, they have a house, savings, children or grandchildren, and the feel entitled to “get theirs” now. But since Hamilton started the First Bank of the United States, and radically worse under Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, Nixon, and the Clintons, Bushes and Obamas, practically no asset is safe except real constitutional money. The rest is just a debt claim on future slave labor which will rebel under the Laws of God before the debts are made real. Ultimately, people don’t want to believe in this because they don’t want to admit they have been blind by state propaganda, and they don’t want to feel responsible for going along and thus enabling this mess. This is why we have wars, because people would rather ignore reality and then blame some outside force for their troubles.
