Though he is perhaps just a bit more understated than some of the other “big name” conservatives, Governor Scott Walker gave one of the strongest speeches of any speaker at CPAC. And unlike some of those other speakers, Governor Walker has fought, fought hard and WON – directly against the progressive monsters of Big Government liberalism. Great speech and a great conservative. The future of the Republican Party continues to shine far brighter than its Democratic Party counterpart, and that is very good news for America.

(Govenor Scott Walker has helped to revitalize the state of Wisconsin – can he do the same for America?)

I was at CPAC and I listened intently on Walker’s speech… to say it was strong is an understatement.
One thing I would like to point out though… The Libertarian wing of the party is made up of mostly kids between 18 and 25. in fact 52% of the attendees this weekend was from that demographic.
What we are seeing is a generational gap, one as old as time, at play.
While they shout for a more “inclusive” message from the party, they forget one key factor… those of us that don’t fit their ideal demographic and that concerns me. The more we self-segregate and divide ourselves the more we allow politicians to usurp our power over government, allowing it to become tyrannical.
The party has allowed a purely emotionally charged position of the left to infiltrate reason. When you start talking about image, perception, etc. of inclusion, you leave out the real message of a reasoned response to affect inclusion.
For the record, we don’t need a changed message (what they are really saying is image), what we need is a clear, concise, principled set of talking points that everyone can understand. We need to take our wonderful graphs, charts, and facts to the kitchen table. Hello, Scott Walker did just that in his speech!
Facts are facts and for the first time this weekend I listened to Corker tell it like it is… we pay only 1/3 of the operating cost of Medicare right now… finally, facts spoken clearly, concisely, and at the kitchen table level. Now, add that to the billions taken from the program to fund ObamaCare and you begin to have a logical and reasoned discussion without first meta-tagging that discussion with minority or gender specific terms. That is of course, if we can get away from pure identity politics…
BTW: did you know that we, as American’s have long battled with the idea of isolation on the world stage? In fact, had it not been for Goldwyn, Meyer and their movie Sgt. York, we, the American public would never have rallied behind our government to enter into WWII, and that’s a fact. That story is proof that when the discussion is principled and factual, even the kids (who are primarily utilitarian) will saddle up with the solution. Sgt York is a true story of a young man during WWI. He objected to killing under any circumstances… not to give the movie away, he used the Bible (of all things) to help him understand the need to stand tall when your enemy harms a friend and becomes a much celebrated hero. Got to see the movie, it’s wonderful.
This post was sent to me by someone not able to post to this site… yet. I hope more speak up… the RNC doesn’t have a “branding” issue, they have an issue with consistent messaging.
CHHR, you made some very good points. Sgt. York persevered because he had principles. Only when he realized he wasn’t the center of the world and after trying to isolate himself in the hills of Kentucky, did he learn it was wrong. He didn’t learn this by choice, but by Divine Providence. God put him where God needed him to be in the world and the world is better because of his efforts. He learned principles, God used his talent.
All we need to do is have principles and stick by them. When we waiver on our principles, the voting public says, “what’s the difference, both parties do it!” Which, by the way, is exactly what the Democrats take advantage of – Both parties do it; a straw-man in every corner.
When the ‘Conservative’ Governor of Virginia accepts higher taxes and when Rob Portman mysteriously ‘evolves’ on gay marriage the voting public can only sit in wonder at the stupidity and hypocrisy. Do Republicans actually have principles, or are they doing it to limit their members? Is there really a difference between the two parties? They know the Democrats don’t have standards, but the GOP ignores the standards they want to push on us! (We don’t, but that’s what they think.)
If taxes are bad, they are ALWAYS bad. If marriage is for a man and a woman, it doesn’t change the rules if your son turns out to be gay, When you change the rules for your kids, you create an elite ruling class for whom rules don’t apply. America sees it and America hates it.
We need to talk about the issues that plague America and it isn’t gays. It is TAXES, the 2nd AMENDMENT, the 1st AMENDMENT, heck, the entire Bill of Rights is being trampled down by this administration and we are talking about GAYS????
Republicans need to talk about the Budget, Taxes, & spending, Drone Strikes on Americans (5th Amendment), Fast & Furious (2nd Amendment), a murdered Ambassador (US Sovereignty & a lying administration), and the HHS mandate (1st Amendment). Keep it simple, and keep talking about what matters to Americans.
America has a SPENDING PROBLEM
Freedom of Religion means obama cannot tell you God is wrong
Drone strikes on US Citizens is evil
Fast & Furious sold guns to Mexican drug lords
A US Ambassador was killed when obama said ‘stand down’
Sarah Palin understands this. Ted Cruz understands this. Of course, Scott Walker and Rand Paul understand this. More importantly, AMERICA understands this.
But the “old white guys” in the GOP who are trying to keep their power refuse to acknowledge it. And, after they have held on to power until their last breath, they will have no power and we will have no America.
When the Founding Fathers designed this country, it wasn’t so old white guys could hold onto power. They did it for the same reason they fought to come here. Every one of them knew they were going to die one day and they wanted to ensure their grandchildren and great-grandchildren were free.
We need to adhere to our principles (learn them again if we must) and God will use our talents to ensure America survives. We must re-kindle our Founding Fathers’ vision so our great-grandchildren can be free.
