Sharyl Attkisson hinted last night on Twitter (Thursday night) that she would have something “interesting” on Benghazi today.  The CBS reporter didn’t disappoint…the change in tone in White House trial balloons in its defense of the Benghazi debacle is stunning:

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012 acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath.

The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments.

“We’re portrayed by Republicans as either being lying or idiots,” said one Obama administration official who was part of the Benghazi response. “It’s actually closer to us being idiots.”

Now, more than eight months later and nine days after State Department whistleblowers embarrassed the White House, administration officials are beginning to admit that they botched Benghazi before, during, and afterward:

Thursday, an administration official who was part of the Benghazi response told CBS News: “I wish we’d sent it [FEST].”

Mark Thompson, who ran the counterterrorism unit at State, testified last week that after he insisted on dispatching FEST, he got excluded from any further meetings on the immediate response. 

In an unfortunate turn of events, on Sept. 11, a special U.S. military force based in Europe, designed specifically for quick reaction to unforeseen emergencies, was off on a training mission in Croatia. By the time the so-called Commander’s In-extremis Force was diverted to an airfield at Sigonella, Italy, an hour’s flight from Benghazi, the attacks were over.

Let’s just ponder that a moment.  We took our quick-response team offline on the anniversary of 9/11? Who made that call?

According to Attkisson’s report, a FEST team was ready to intervene in the Benghazi attack and was preparing to respond but were never given the approval to engage.

“With U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens reported missing shortly after the Benghazi attacks began, Washington officials were operating under a possible hostage scenario at the outset,” Attkisson’s report reads. “Yet deployment of the counterterrorism experts on the FEST was ruled out from the start.”

A MILITARY RESPONSE TEAM WAS RULED OUT FROM THE START.   BY WHO?  AND WHY?

That last line gave me chills for nothing more than the fact that the FEST response was already initiating per long standing protocols, and then that response was terminated and those involved in preparing that response were “removed from any further meetings on the response.”

Add to that fact that the very team trained and prepped for the very crisis scenario that was taking place in Benghazi on September 11th, 2012, had been sent away to a training mission in Croatia on the anniversary of the worst terror attack in the history of the United States?  WHO MADE THAT DECISION?  AND WHY?

The Obama administration is not merely idiots or liars.  They are lying idiots and America must hold them ALL accountable…

Did the A.P. Leak Put ‘the American People at Risk’?

Attorney General Eric Holder tried the other day to justify the government’s secret spying on The Associated Press. He condemned an apparent leak to the A.P. regarding a foiled (remember that word, foiled) terrorist plot hatched in Yemen, which he said posed a dire threat to national security.

It was not just a “very serious leak,” Mr. Holder said. It was “a very, very serious leak.” And that’s not all. “This is among the top two or three serious leaks that I’ve ever seen,” he said, one that “put the American people at risk.” Finding out who put the entire population in jeopardy “required very aggressive action,” he said.

Was it really that bad?

…According to an article in The Washington Post, The A.P.’s staff sat on their scoop for five days in May 2012 at the request of the C.I.A., then were asked to hold off for one day more — not because of additional security concerns, but because the administration wanted to announce the successful counter-terrorism effort itself.

…So, in short, the A.P. got itself a scoop, and then held off on publishing until it was clear that “the American people” were not “at risk.”

Hyperventilating about threats to “the American people” a year later is outrageous.   LINK

Woodward is right of course, and those who have warned the IRS and AP scandals could potentially be used to distract from the Benghazi scandal are also right to worry in that regard.  This White House is the most secretive and dishonest administration in at least a generation.  It deflects and intimidates at every turn, and likely still believes itself capable of doing so again despite the onslaught of mounting evidence of its complicity in these scandals.

It will take a media willing to finally investigate the Obama administration – and an American public equally willing to finally pay attention.

Barack Obama is counting on neither one happening…

In short, as noted in 2011, Executive Order 13522 establishes “labor-management forums” between union bosses (who may or may not be federal employees) and federal agency management.

As part of the directives under Executive Order 13522, agency heads are to engage union bosses in “pre-decisional discussions” before decisions are made–and those discussions are to be in secret and outside the purview of the Freedom of Information Act:

“Pre-decisional discussions, by their nature, should be conducted confidentially among the parties to the discussions. This confidentiality is an essential ingredient in building the environment of mutual trust and respect necessary for the honest exchange of views and collaboration.”

No Need For Special Prosecutor?

…Despite the fact that the President feels there is no need for a special prosecutor, as the IRS scandal continues to escalate, more questions will be raised than will be answered by Eric Holder’s Justice Department or through a Congressional inquiry.

The questions that should be asked and answered do not stop with the convenient scapegoating of one already-leaving agency head, and a few “rogue” employees.

It will take a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of it.

Benghazi e-mails unleash flood of questions

Dozens of e-mails released by the White House reveal that Obama administration officials were behind the crafting of a false narrative about the attack in Benghazi, Libya. The communications raise questions about who called the shots and why, say an analyst and a lawmaker involved in the investigation.

…Though White House spokesman Jay Carney has insisted the White House made almost no changes to the original memo, the e-mails show that Tommy Vietor, then-spokesman for the White House’s national security adviser, wanted State Department concerns about the memo to be addressed.  LINK

Beyond the White House “talking points” fiasco there remains an even more pertinent question – who issued the stand down order to send help to those trapped in Benghazi and why?

Second, where was Barack Obama during the attack on Benghazi?  There has been no real definitive answer on what would seem to be a very simple and straightforward question.

We do know the president flew off to Las Vegas for a campaign fundraiser shortly after the attack – but no word as to what his involvement was, if any, while he remained at the White House.  If he was involved in decision during the Benghazi attack, what were they?  If he was not involved – WHY NOT?  He is the alleged Commander in Chief after all – a title he reminds the American people of at every opportunity to do so…      -UM

Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA) went on the Hugh Hewitt Show tonight and dropped this bombshell. The Holder-Obama Justice Department tapped the House of Representatives Cloak Room.

DN: No, I absolutely do not, especially after this wiretapping incident, essentially, of the House of Representative. I don’t think people are focusing on the right thing when they talk about going after the AP reporters. The big problem that I see is that they actually tapped right where I’m sitting right now, the Cloak Room.

HH: Wait a minute, this is news to me.

DN: The Cloak Room in the House of Representatives.

HH: I have no idea what you’re talking about.

DN: So when they went after the AP reporters, right? Went after all of their phone records, they went after the phone records, including right up here in the House Gallery, right up from where I’m sitting right now. So you have a real separation of powers issue that did this really rise to the level that you would have to get phone records that would, that would most likely include members of Congress, because as you know…

Please watch this video beginning at the 1:20 mark where Eric Holder explained yesterday that the motivation to seize Associated Press communications records was based upon “A very-very serious leak.  Among the most serious leaks – it put American people at risk.”

Now read the following excerpt from White House Spokesman Jay Carney explaining WHEN Barack Obama learned of the Associated Press-Department of Justice communications scandal:

Q    When did the President find out about the Department of Justice’s subpoenas for the Associated Press?

MR. CARNEY:  Yesterday.  Let me just be clear.  We don’t have any independent knowledge of that.  He found out about the news reports yesterday on the road.    LINK

So please now consider this reader – the Attorney General of the United States of America publicly informs the media that there was such a significant threat to American security that it required the Department of Justice to revoke the First Amendment rights of a significant media source.

And yet, despite that significant threat to American security, the White House then indicates Barack Obama HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THAT THREAT or the attempt to remedy that threat.  That he in fact just learned of his own Department of Justice’s potentially illegal actions against the Associated Press.

NO WAY.

The Obama White House is placing lies atop lies now at such a pace they cannot even coordinate them on a daily basis.

Either Barack Obama did in fact know of his DOJ’s actions against the media, and then had his administration lie about it, or he has an administration that does not even bother to inform him of a significant threat to the United States.
